Anthony (Ant) Kaschula – a third generation Zimbabwean – and Rob Janisch, who was born and bred in South Africa, are partners in Private Guided Safaris, one of Southern Africa’s leading specialist guiding collections. Both Rob and Ant combine a blend of wonder & awe with a deep knowledge & passion for natural history in their safaris, crafting unique experiences throughout Southern Africa.
Ant holds degrees in Ecology and Environmental & Geographical Science from the University of Cape Town and Tropical Resource Ecology from the University of Zimbabwe. As a licensed Professional Guide in Zimbabwe, he also has one of the most highly respected guiding qualifications in the world. Since becoming a professional guide in 2000, Ant has led safaris through most countries in southern and eastern Africa, and has trained numerous guides and managed several lodges and camps.
Rob discovered his passion for all things wild early on. After his hybrid university studies in the Arts and Biokinetics, his first introduction to guiding was in South Africa in the late Nineties. It was during these formative years that he truly found a passion for interpreting the wild wonders of nature to others, a passion that was to become his vocation for the next 18 years: beating about the bush, introducing guests to the wilds of Africa, and developing a deep understanding of the genius of the natural world. More than anything, through time spent in the wilds, Rob is able to mollify the hankerings of his soul – a tonic he shares regularly with his guests on safari.
